and this time, it was a tiny Mexican restaurant tucked away near Cal State LA. Following her tried-and-true method – scouting for mouthwatering pictures on Yelp – we stumbled upon this place, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
The restaurant itself was charmingly small, with an intimate atmosphere and an explosion of flavor on every plate. The food was absolutely delicious, a testament to the expertise hidden within those unassuming walls.
But what truly stole the show was the owner. Impeccably dressed and radiating warmth, he was immediately impressed by my halting Spanish (it's always a surprise to see an Asian person speaking Spanish fluently, apparently).
Now, Liz, being the social media queen she is, had a plan. She wanted us to do a fun TikTok together, documenting our culinary adventure. But with a mischievous glint in her eye, she ended up pushing me towards a different kind of TikTok – a trending challenge involving the owner himself!
Full disclosure: it wasn't exactly the flawless TikTok debut I envisioned. It was a one-take wonder, and the execution wasn't perfect. However, there was something undeniably special about it. The owner's genuine smile, his infectious laughter – that moment captured a far more authentic experience than any perfectly staged video could have.
