California Adventure. The very name conjures up images of laughter, thrills, and pure, unadulterated joy.
@jennieberrie Happy Sunday everyone! A little rundown: Huge respect to the @ThatStraightFaceGuy😐 to ride with no emotions, it's hard to do when it's so fun. In the sudden weightlessness section I felt like I was doing the @Gina no sauce face LOL 😆 Was holding my phone for dear life. I forgot to switch to a wide angle lens, so I looked so "goofy" ✨ wink wink ✨. And experiencing as a single rider. It's my new favorite method wherever it is available. Thanks to @Jeff the Amazing 😃 for his expertise as a Park regular for this hack if you want to save some time waiting in line. Jeff made park goers, cast members and Ant-Man so much joy with his rubber band and card tricks. I would totally see him perform in any @Disney Parks and any @Disney ♬ original sound - CarsTok
And for the most part, that's exactly what it delivered. The Radiator Springs Racers ride, with its exhilarating twists and turns, was a particular highlight.
Now, there's this trend on TikTok, you might've seen it – these cool, collected creators riding rollercoasters with this utterly bored, deadpan expression. Like, nothing fazes them. Not a single drop, not a single loop. It's all just...meh.
So, there I was, on the Racers, channeling my inner internet cynic. Determined to capture that perfectly emotionless TikTok moment.
Here's the thing, though: California Adventure, and particularly the Racers, is just...fun. Pure, unadulterated fun. And try as I might, that little smirk, that genuine giggle, kept creeping onto my face.
Maybe it's childish. Maybe it's not "cool" according to the internet. But you know what? It was real. It was a moment of pure joy, a brief escape from the emptiness that's settled within me since losing my husband.
California Adventure was a bittersweet experience. A reminder of the joy we used to share, the laughter that filled our lives. And while the emptiness remains, that flicker of joy, that genuine smile on the Racers – it's a reminder that life goes on. It's a reminder to hold onto the good, even amidst the grief.
So, to the cool kids of TikTok with their perfectly bored expressions – maybe there's something to be said for letting loose, for letting the joy show, even if it doesn't fit the mold. And to anyone facing their own emptiness, don't be afraid to chase those moments of joy, however fleeting they may seem.
